2018 - In January, Marquis’ Who’s Who publishers honored Mike with their ‘Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award’ in his chosen fields of Art, Medicine and Science.

Mike has two watercolors that were commissioned and accepted into the permanent collection of the U.S. Coast Guard and will reside in the USCG Museum in Washington D.C.   One represents an arctic ecological expedition and the other a boarding of a fishing vessel in search of drugs. The art collection is used as an outreach tool for educating diverse audiences about the United States Coast Guard. They will be unveiled at a reception in July at the Salmagundi Cub in NYC.


Mike was recently notified (in May) that he was unanimously approved by the National Board of Directors of the American Artists Professional League in NYC as their first Signature Member elected in many decades, and the eighth Signature Member in the AAPL’s 86 year existence, with a membership currently over 600.  He previously held the title of Fellow, Magna Cum Laude.

Mike’s painting “Work and Play” was juried into the AAPL’s 89th Grand National Exhibition.


Mike's painting "Lobster Boat" won the Winsor and Newton Award at the American Artists Professional League's 88th Grand National in NYC and will be on display through November 18.

The paintings in Mike’s solo show at the Mass Maritime Academy, in Buzzards Bay, Mass are now on permanent exhibit in their Beachmoor conference facility and part of the Academy’s collection.

Mike was elected to Signature membership with the American Society of Marine Artists and is exhibiting with the Society in their 17th National show that will travel to six museum from September 17, 2016 through January 26, 2018.

Coos Art Museum’s 23rd Annual Maritime exhibition through September 24, 2016 is displaying three of Mike’s paintings

Mike’s painting “Tidal Inlet” was part of the Cape Cod Art Association’s National show in August.


Mike was elected to Fellow, Magna Cum Laude with the American Artists Professional League in NYC

Mike is participating in "Master Artists of the Cape Cod Art Association" an invitational exhibition, being held at the Falmouth Art Center in Falmouth, Mass from August 14 - September 8, 2015.

Mike has four paintings in the Master Artist Exhibition at the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable, MA, from June 18 - July 13, 2015.

Solo invitational show featuring ten of his marine paintings at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, MA is ongoing since 2011.


Mike’s painting "Snare, Boom and Skimmers" in the collection of the United States Coast Guard, is part of an exhibition titled "USCG in Service To The Nation" at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum in Oxnard, CA, from August 2014 through March 2015.

 "At the Crossroads" was selected by the International Guild of Realism for their 9th Annual Exhibition at the Robert Lange Studios Gallery in Charleston, SC from Nov 7-29

Mike’s painting "Search and Rescue in Fargo, North Dakota" also in the USCG Collection, was on exhibit at the Salmagundi Club, NYC, June 26 – July 26.


Mike recently gained Master Artist status with the Cape Cod Art Association, Barnstable MA, making him one of the first to receive that status with the CCAA.

Solo invitational show featuring ten of his marine paintings at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, MA is ongoing since 2011.

His painting, "Rescue at Air Station Kodiak" was selected by the USCG for their permanent collection. It was on display as part of the 2013 Collection Exhibition in the historical Federal Hall in NYC from July – September.

Five paintings were selected for the "10th Annual Color Bold/Subtle" juried online International Art Exhibition at the Upstream People Gallery, Omaha, NE, and won three Special Recognition awards.



Mike has two paintings in "Artistic Touch 6" by Chris Unwin, Creative Arts Press, available in Sept, 2014.


Mike's image of "The New Bedford Whaleman Statue", is on the cover, requested by author, Jennifer Schell, of "A Bold and Hardy Race of Men: The Lives and Literature of American Whalemen", published August, 2013 by University of Mass Press. Both print and e-book editions are available in bookstores and online.
